The Catholic Identity

Is the Catholic church the one and only church of Christ? And what do you view of the recent document release by the Pope affirming the teaching that the Catholic Church is the one and only? Give me your thoughts on all this.

Jesus said to St. Peter(the first Pope)that Peter was the rock that He would build his church on and the gates of Hell would not prevail against it. Include the 7 Sacraments and I don't need any more proof.

Not to be too argumentative, but what does one expect the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church to say? I for one am happy that the Pope said that and staked out his ground. I couldn't diagree more with much of Roman Catholic Theology, but I appreciate his saying what the RCC teaches.

Peter was only called "the first Pope" centuries after his death. He did not mark the start of the office of the papacy nor the Roman Catholic Church. The rock that Jesus built his church upon was faith like Peter's. This church includes all believers, and does not refer to a visible earthly organization.
